Ingredients
  

  • 4 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored (approx. 2 lbs / 900 g)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 oz / 28 g)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (2 oz / 55 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (1 g)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (2 oz / 55 g)
  • 1/4 cup honey (2 oz / 60 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Arrange the pear halves, cut-side up, in a baking dish large enough to accommodate them in a single layer.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, cooking until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Spoon this mixture evenly over the pear halves, ensuring each pear is well coated.
  • Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top of the pears, pressing them gently into the sugary mixture.
  • Drizzle the honey evenly over the pears and walnuts.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  • Serve warm, optionally with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute the butter with coconut oil and the honey with maple syrup.
Choose pears that are ripe for the best flavor but make sure they are firm to hold their shape during baking.
This dish can be made in advance and reheated before serving.
